NSSF Contributions
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a mandatory contribution for all employees in Kenya.
NSSF Structure
NSSF is calculated in two tiers:
Tier 1
6% of the first KES 8,000
Maximum: KES 480
Tier 2
6% of the next KES 64,000
Maximum: KES 3,840
Maximum Monthly NSSF: KES 4,320 (Tier 1 + Tier 2)
How NSSF is Calculated
NSSF is calculated on your gross salary:
- If your salary is KES 8,000 or less: 6% of your salary
- If your salary is between KES 8,001 and KES 72,000: 6% of first 8,000 + 6% of amount above 8,000 (up to 64,000)
- If your salary is above KES 72,000: Maximum of KES 4,320
